In a significant step for international sports diplomacy, the governments of Turkey and Bangladesh have signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of sports.
The landmark agreement is expected to open a new chapter of collaboration between the two brotherly nations in areas including youth development, exchange of professional athletes’ experiences, and modernization of sports management systems.
On behalf of Bangladesh, Aminul Haque, State Minister for Youth and Sports, signed the agreement, while Osman Aşkın Bak signed on behalf of Türkiye.
Officials from both countries expressed hope that the partnership would further strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye.
Under the agreement, the two nations will establish a multidimensional framework for exchanging knowledge and expertise in the sports sector.
The cooperation will include reciprocal visits by senior officials and experts to share experiences related to organizing and financing major sporting events. Both sides will also exchange technical knowledge and educational materials on the management and financing of world-class sports infrastructure.
Highlighting the importance of social inclusion, the MoU includes commitments to improve sports facilities and support programs for persons with disabilities. The two ministers also agreed to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethics in their respective sports sectors.
Stakeholders believe the agreement will not only help improve the performance standards of Bangladeshi and Turkish athletes on the global stage but also deepen cultural ties between the two countries through sports.
