Bangladesh and the United States have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.
The agreement was signed on Thursday at the US Department of Energy in Washington D.C. by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Amid global energy challenges caused by the Middle East conflict, this MoU aims to bolster Bangladesh’s long-term energy security through diversified supply chains.
The pact will facilitate the import of affordable LNG and LPG from the US and promote research in geothermal and bioenergy. Foreign Minister Rahman hailed the move as a milestone in bilateral ties, extending gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and US President Donald Trump for their support.
