Bangladesh Delivers First Shipment of Food Aid to Kuwait

In a gesture of diplomatic solidarity and brotherhood, Bangladesh has formally handed over the first shipment of food assistance sent for the people of Kuwait.

The aid was officially delivered on Sunday by Humayun Kabir, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister and Adviser on Foreign Affairs, to Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The food supplies were presented as a goodwill gift from Bangladesh Prime Minister Tareq Rahman to the people of Kuwait.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat and Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Major General Syed Tareq Hossain were also present during the handover ceremony.

Kuwait’s foreign minister highly praised Bangladesh’s initiative, describing it as a unique example of the brotherly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

According to officials, Bangladesh is sending a total of 240 tons of food assistance to Kuwait. The support is being provided as an expression of solidarity, friendship, and goodwill toward the people of Kuwait amid the ongoing regional situation in West Asia.

During the meeting, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir also formally handed over a letter from Prime Minister Tareq Rahman addressed to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In the letter, Bangladesh conveyed its wishes for continued peace, security, and prosperity for the people of Kuwait and reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening the long-standing friendly ties between the two brotherly nations.

The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations, the current regional situation, humanitarian cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest.

Both countries expressed satisfaction with the enduring friendship and brotherly relationship between Bangladesh and Kuwait and reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, friendship, and multidimensional collaboration.

The discussions also highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in areas including:

  • Trade and investment
  • Workforce and manpower export
  • Food security
  • Civil aviation
  • Other promising sectors

During the meeting, Humayun Kabir also extended an invitation from Prime Minister Tareq Rahman to the Amir of Kuwait to visit Bangladesh.
