Bangladesh Completes Preparations for Eid-ul-Azha Congregations Amid Rain Forecast

Final preparations have been completed at Eidgahs and mosques across Bangladesh for the holy Eid-ul-Azha prayers. Members of law enforcement agencies, including the police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), are working to ensure the safety and security of worshippers nationwide.

With forecasts predicting possible storms and rainfall on Eid day, authorities have taken additional measures to ensure uninterrupted congregations.

Chattogram Ready for Main Eid Congregation

The main Eid congregation in Chattogram will be held at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque at 7:00 am.

Due to concerns over rain, the entire Eidgah area has been covered with tarpaulin sheets. Fans and sufficient drinking water facilities have also been arranged for worshippers.

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, “We expect around 20,000 to 25,000 worshippers to offer prayers here. If heavy rain creates difficulties, the Jamiatul Falah Mosque is fully prepared as an alternative venue.”

Rajshahi Arranges Backup Venue for Rain

In Rajshahi, the main Eid congregation will take place at the central Eidgah of Hazrat Shah Makhdum Rahmatullah Alaih Central Eidgah at 7:30 am.

If rainfall disrupts the gathering, the congregation will instead be held at 8:00 am at the Hazrat Shah Makhdum Dargah Jame Mosque.

Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton expressed optimism, saying, “If the weather remains favorable, thousands of people will gather at the Eidgah and we will be able to offer Eid-ul-Azha prayers together peacefully.”

Barishal, Sylhet, and Khulna Finalize Arrangements

Around 350 mosques in Barishal will host Eid congregations this year. The main congregation will be held at 8:00 am at the Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah Ground.

Meanwhile, the main Eid congregation in Sylhet will be held at the historic Shahi Eidgah grounds.

Law enforcement agencies have already deployed extensive security measures at major venues.

Commander Sahadat Hossain of RAB-8 said, “There are three entry gates here. Screening checkpoints will be installed at each entrance. Medical facilities and a control room have also been arranged, and we are maintaining strict surveillance.”

In Khulna, the main Eid congregation will take place at 7:00 am at the Circuit House Ground. In case of rain, the congregation will move to the Town Jame Mosque.

Other Major Eid Congregations

In Mymensingh, the main Eid prayer will be held at 7:30 am at the Anjuman Eidgah Ground.

In Rangpur, worshippers will be able to offer Eid prayers at 80 Eidgahs between 7:30 am and 10:30 am.

Authorities across the country say all preparations have been completed to ensure peaceful, safe, and weather-ready Eid congregations for millions of worshippers.
