A number of political and parliamentary figures from Bangladesh are preparing to travel to Iran to attend the funeral and state mourning ceremonies of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

According to sources within the National Citizens Party (NCP), its chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary is preparing for the visit and has already applied for a visa at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka. However, due to delays in visa approval, his travel schedule has not yet been finalized, and he has not been able to confirm his flight arrangements.

Sources further said that once the visa is issued, he is expected to depart for Iran shortly to attend the official mourning events.

In addition, separate delegations are reportedly preparing to attend the same state ceremony, including Bangladesh’s Speaker of Parliament, retired Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and three Members of Parliament from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami party, making a total of four parliamentary representatives.

Party and diplomatic sources said the visit is intended to pay respect to the late Iranian leader and participate in the official state mourning program. They also suggested that the trip could help strengthen diplomatic and political relations between Bangladesh and Iran.

However, no official or finalized travel schedule has yet been publicly announced.
