Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed arrived in New York on Sunday to participate in the fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS), which will be held at the UN Headquarters on July 7 and 8.

The Home Minister is scheduled to attend the summit's opening session at the UN General Assembly Hall on July 8, along with a series of plenary sessions during the two-day conference.

This year's summit will feature plenary discussions on three key themes: the future of United Nations policing, innovation and emerging technologies in UN policing, and strengthening international cooperation to address transnational challenges. Salahuddin Ahmed will also attend a high-level official dinner on the sidelines of the summit.

During his visit to New York, the Home Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, and Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo.

Salahuddin Ahmed is leading a five-member Bangladesh delegation to the summit. The delegation also includes Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir.

The delegation is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on July 12 following the conclusion of the visit.
