Organizational Steps Are Not Enough, Strict Punishment Must Be Ensured: Shafiqur Rahman

Following the resignation of BNP reserved seat Member of Parliament Ferdousi Ahmed Misti over the demolition and takeover of the Radda MCH-FP Center in Mirpur, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman has stated that mere organizational steps are not enough and strict legal punishment must be ensured for the culprits.

In a post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday, he remarked that although the government and the ruling party were forced to take organizational measures following the midnight clinic grab, such actions alone are completely inadequate for a crime of this magnitude. He stated that the country's citizens want to see visible and credible legal action. He also urged the government to take responsibility for sustainably reconstructing the damaged and looted Radda center.

Earlier, the accused MP submitted her resignation letter to the Speaker, and the Parliament Secretariat subsequently issued a notification confirming that her resignation has been accepted.
