Bangladesh’s general inflation rate rose to 8.34 percent in September, up from 8.26 percent in August, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Tuesday.
The increase means headline inflation rose by 0.08 percentage points month-on-month.
According to BBS data, food inflation increased to 7.22 percent in September from 7.02 percent in August, marking a rise of 0.20 percentage points. However, food inflation was higher at 7.64 percent in September last year, indicating that food prices rose at a slower pace this year compared with the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation stood at 9.30 percent in September, slightly down from 9.32 percent in August. The rate declined by 0.02 percentage points over the month.
However, non-food inflation remained higher than the 8.98 percent recorded in September last year.
The latest figures indicate that while food inflation has increased month-on-month, non-food inflation has edged down slightly, keeping overall inflation above 8 percent.
