Bangladesh has strongly condemned a deadly Houthi attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that reportedly killed two Bangladeshi nationals, calling for an immediate end to hostilities and the protection of civilians.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh was in contact with Saudi authorities to gather detailed information about the Bangladeshi nationals killed and injured in the attack and to provide necessary assistance to those affected.
The statement said the attack took place on October 10, leaving several people injured, many of whom were reported to be in critical condition.
Bangladesh expressed profound grief and sincere condolences to the families of the deceased, including the two Bangladeshi nationals, and wished all the injured a speedy and full recovery.
“Such attacks that endanger civilian lives and target civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and must stop immediately,” the statement said.
Bangladesh also reaffirmed its strong solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia following the incident.
Emphasising the importance of regional peace, security and stability, Bangladesh called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and a peaceful resolution of the ongoing crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.
