A Bangladeshi national travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah has been killed in a missile attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, according to reports.

The deceased, Mohammad Nasrullah Badrpuri, 45, was the eldest son of Mahmudullah and hailed from Badrpur village in Dhalua Union under Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla district.

The attack took place early Saturday, shortly after an aircraft carrying passengers arrived at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.

According to the report, the missile strike killed 12 people and injured at least 309 others.

Among the deceased were four Saudi nationals and two Bangladeshis. Nationals of the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt were also reported to have been killed, with one victim from each country.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a senior Houthi official, reportedly claimed that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the Saudi-led coalition’s military operations in Yemen.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of civilians and international travellers amid escalating regional tensions.
