NEWS DESKChinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the great importance China attaches to its relationship with Bangladesh. In his congratulatory message to President Mohammad Shahabuddin on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, President Xi expressed his strong commitment to enhancing the relationship further.
In his message, President Xi noted that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors with a long history of exchanges. He stated, "Over the past 50 years, despite changes in the international and regional landscape, China and Bangladesh have always maintained a friendly relationship based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which has set an example of mutual respect, equality, and joint benefits."
He further added, "In recent years, the two countries have strengthened political mutual trust, expanded high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepened practical collaboration in various fields, further advancing their overall strategic cooperative partnership."
President Xi reiterated his deep commitment to strengthening China's relationship with Bangladesh, stating that he is ready to further promote traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and encourage joint development, ensuring that the people of both countries benefit more and contributing significantly to global peace and development.
In response, President Mohammad Shahabuddin affirmed that over the past 50 years, Bangladesh and China have built a deep friendship based on mutual respect and trust, which has brought real benefits to both peoples through long-lasting cooperation.
He also praised China's significant role in regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity, and expressed gratitude for China's long-term valuable support in Bangladesh's sustainable development.
The President expressed his confidence that with the joint efforts of the leaders and people of both countries, bilateral cooperation will continue to yield fruitful results.
