A new research report by New York-based South Asian political organization Salam claims that Tata Group, India’s largest multinational conglomerate, is deeply involved in supporting Israeli control and surveillance operations in Palestine.
The report, titled “Profession of Builders: Tata Group, Indian Capital, and the India-Israel Alliance”, identifies the Indian business empire as a key enabler of Israel’s military and occupation activities.
According to the report, Tata’s involvement spans defense, aerospace, and digital technology sectors. Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) reportedly provides critical components for F-16 fighter jets and AH-64 Apache attack helicopters used by the Israeli Air Force in Gaza operations. TASL also partners with Israel Aerospace Industries to develop command systems for Barak-8 missiles deployed by the Israeli Navy.
In addition, Tata Motors and affiliated companies like Jaguar Land Rover are said to supply chassis for “M-113 David” armored vehicles used for patrols and operations in the occupied West Bank. The report describes these contributions as essential to Israel’s “hardware of genocide” and daily repression.
The research also highlights Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for providing key infrastructure for Israel’s financial and government systems, including the controversial cloud computing program Project Nimbus, used in surveillance and control of Palestinians.
Critics argue that Tata leverages its philanthropic image and U.S. presence to shield its activities. The Salam organization launched the #TataByeBye campaign in summer 2024 to expose and disrupt this “war economy.”
The report situates Tata’s operations within the broader India-Israel strategic partnership, particularly in defense, technology, and intelligence. India is reportedly Israel’s largest weapons buyer, with Tata affiliates central to maintaining this supply chain.
Despite allegations, Tata Group has not yet responded to the report.
