Amid the ongoing trade war and disputes over rare minerals, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are reportedly moving toward sitting down for talks.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett hinted at the discussions, which are expected to take place during the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea.
The historic meeting will be held in the city of Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1, 2025, with participation from world leaders including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaiichi, and Peruvian President José Gerry.
Meanwhile, CNN reports that officials are also engaging in secret talks about a potential meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, which could coincide with Trump’s Asia tour.
