On Thursday, October 30, Erdoğan met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara. After the meeting, Erdoğan addressed the media at a joint press conference.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that Turkey and Germany could play a crucial role in stopping Israel’s war in Gaza.

Strongly criticizing Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza, Erdoğan called on Germany to take a firmer stance.
He said, “Hamas does not have bombs or nuclear weapons, but Israel does. And yesterday they used them in Gaza. Is Germany not seeing this?”
Erdoğan further emphasized, “As influential regional and global powers, Turkey and Germany working together can help bring an end to the Gaza war.”
He also urged humanitarian organizations to take immediate action, stating, “The German Red Cross and Turkey’s Red Crescent must act against genocide and hunger in Gaza.”
Israel launched heavy attacks on Gaza starting the evening of Tuesday, October 28, citing alleged ceasefire violations by Hamas. The latest strikes by Netanyahu’s forces have reportedly killed over a hundred Palestinians, including 46 children.
