Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a strong warning to India over the recent conflict between the two countries, claiming Islamabad has taught New Delhi a lesson it will never forget.

Speaking on Wednesday at the launch of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at Haripur University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sharif said Pakistan’s armed forces achieved victory in what he described as the “Battle of Truth,” backed by the prayers and unwavering support of the nation. He said the defeat would be remembered by India’s ruling establishment from Delhi to Mumbai.

Referring to the conflict that began in May, Sharif alleged that India launched unprovoked attacks on Pakistani territory. Islamabad has maintained that New Delhi used an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir as a pretext, while Pakistan denied any involvement and called for an independent international investigation.

The prime minister further claimed that during the hostilities, Pakistan shot down six Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets, as well as several drones. The 87-hour standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbours ended on 10 May following a US-brokered ceasefire.

Sharif also praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their long fight against terrorism, crediting them for restoring stability, and announced an expansion of the laptop distribution programme across the province.
