Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated his firm belief that Kashmir will one day become part of Pakistan. He made the remarks while addressing the Legislative Assembly of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Speaking at a special session held in Muzaffarabad to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, Prime Minister Sharif said he had come to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir on behalf of the Pakistani people and leadership. He stated that the only solution to the Kashmir issue lies in implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions in accordance with the will of the Kashmiri people.

Referring to the four-day brief conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025, Sharif claimed that the Kashmir issue has regained prominence on the global diplomatic stage following the hostilities. He accused India of promoting terrorism through proxies and said Pakistan seeks peace, but only on the basis of equality and justice.

In his speech, the prime minister compared the situation in Kashmir with that of Palestine and recalled leaders such as Burhan Wani and Syed Ali Geelani. Quoting Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he described Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the people of Kashmir. President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir issued separate statements pledging continued political and diplomatic backing.

During a visit to a military base in Muzaffarabad, Field Marshal Asim Munir warned that any form of aggression would be met with an immediate and forceful response.
