Israeli authorities have arrested more than 100 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society.

The claim was made on Sunday (February 22).

The organization said the arrests began on February 18, following the start of Ramadan, and include women and children among those detained. It described the arrest operations carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as “terrorist activities.”

According to the group, detainees and their family members were subjected to beatings during the raids. It also alleged that homes were vandalized and that vehicles, cash and gold ornaments were confiscated.

Citing data from various human rights organizations, the Palestinian Prisoner Society said that more than 9,300 Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli prisons, including around 350 children. It further alleged that many detainees have died due to torture, hunger and medical neglect.

There has been no immediate comment from Israeli authorities regarding the allegations.
