Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Israel on a two-day official visit. His aircraft landed at Ben Gurion International Airport on Wednesday.

He was received at the airport by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been accused of war crimes, along with his wife, Sara Netanyahu.

According to Israeli media outlet The Times of Israel, Netanyahu, his wife and Modi were seen smiling together and exchanged hugs during the reception ceremony. Modi was accorded a red-carpet welcome.

Later, Netanyahu accompanied Modi to the stage, where the two leaders stood side by side as Israel’s national anthem was played.

Modi and Netanyahu are scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting at the airport before traveling to Jerusalem, which is internationally recognized as occupied Palestinian territory. Modi is expected to address the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, later this evening.
