Amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, residents of Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a large-scale relief campaign in support of Iran, with widespread participation from local communities.

In districts such as Budgam and Baramulla, people are voluntarily donating gold, silver, cash, and other valuable items. Local sources report that women are contributing personal jewelry, including gold rings and earrings, while others are donating livestock and traditional copper items.

Following Eid al-Fitr, volunteers in Shia-majority areas have been going door-to-door to collect donations. Videos circulating on social media show women lining up to hand over jewelry, while children are also contributing portions of their Eid gifts.

In one instance, a lawyer reportedly raised around 3.1 million rupees from his family alone. Organizers claim the total donations have already reached several crores (tens of millions) of rupees.

The collected funds and goods are being converted into cash and sent through approved channels to the Embassy of Iran in India. The embassy has expressed gratitude on social media, praising the people of Kashmir for their solidarity.

The initiative has also drawn support from political figures. Local MLA Muntazir Mehdi announced that he would donate his full one-month salary to the cause.
