Russia Condemns U.S. and Israel Strikes on Iran as “Appalling Defeat”

Maria Zakharova has criticized recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, calling them an “appalling defeat”. She described the attacks as unilateral and unprovoked aggression.

In a Wednesday interview with Sputnik Radio, Zakharova stated that Russia has opposed the attacks from the outset and has repeatedly called for a swift de-escalation.

She emphasized, “We stated in our first declaration that this aggression must stop immediately. There is no military solution to this situation.”

According to Russia, the U.S. and Israel carried out joint military action against Iran on February 28. The international community, however, has shown a range of reactions to the incident.

Zakharova reiterated that Russia consistently supports diplomatic solutions and stressed that negotiations, rather than escalating conflict, are the only effective path forward.
