Iran has officially withdrawn from peace negotiations with the United States in Islamabad, citing Israel's continued aerial bombardment of Lebanon as a direct violation of diplomatic terms.
Iran's Fars News Agency confirmed this Friday (April 10, 2026) that the Iranian negotiating team has not arrived in the Pakistani capital and has no plans to attend the summit.
Tehran has officially informed Pakistani mediators that it will not participate in any dialogue until a ceasefire is established in Lebanon. This decision comes as a rebuttal to earlier reports suggesting the Iranian delegation had already reached Islamabad.
The diplomatic standoff intensified following a surge in Israeli strikes across Lebanon since Wednesday, which claimed at least 303 lives. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that any negotiation is contingent upon the US honoring its commitment to halt hostilities across all fronts. As the war in Lebanon escalates, the fragile two-week ceasefire deal brokered by Pakistan now faces a total collapse.
