Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly sustained serious injuries to his face and legs during joint military strikes carried out by Israel and the United States, according to three individuals close to him.

The sources said Khamenei’s face was disfigured in the attack, while one or both of his legs were severely injured. One source, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the 56-year-old leader is currently undergoing treatment and recovering from his wounds, though he remains mentally sharp.

Two of the sources said Khamenei has been participating in meetings with senior officials via audio conference and remains involved in key decision-making processes. These include issues related to the ongoing conflict and upcoming discussions with Washington.

Meanwhile, high-level peace talks between Iran and the United States are scheduled to take place in Islamabad on Saturday. Against this backdrop, questions have emerged over whether Khamenei’s physical condition is sufficient for making critical decisions.

The accounts from individuals close to Khamenei provide the most detailed description of his condition in recent weeks. However, Reuters reported that it has not been able to independently verify these claims.

On February 28, Israel and US forces launched surprise attacks on Iran. During the strikes, Iran’s then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and dozens of top officials were killed. Mojtaba narrowly survived the attack.

He assumed office as Iran’s new Supreme Leader on March 8 but has not appeared in public since. No video, audio, or images of him have been released.

According to the Reuters report, Mojtaba Khamenei was injured during the first wave of the February 28 strikes. However, Iran has not issued any official statement regarding his condition.

On March 13, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Khamenei had been injured and may have been permanently disabled.

A source familiar with US intelligence assessments suggested that Mojtaba Khamenei may have lost a leg. However, the Central Intelligence Agency declined to comment on his physical condition.
