The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has faced a diplomatic setback after failing to convince Saudi Arabia and Qatar to join a coordinated military strike against Iran.
According to a Bloomberg report, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) urged regional leaders to launch a counter-attack following recent Iranian strikes, but Riyadh and Doha refused to get involved directly.
Frustrated by this lack of cooperation, the UAE has already taken the historic step of exiting OPEC and is now considering reviewing its membership in the GCC. While the UAE has shifted closer to Israel—receiving the 'Iron Dome' defense system—Saudi Arabia continues to prioritize diplomacy via Pakistan. This unprecedented rift signals a deep crisis within long-standing Gulf alliances.
