In remarks published by Reuters, Gargash emphasized that European nations must stop viewing Iranian leverage over this critical waterway as a distant issue, urging them instead to recognize it as a direct threat to their own energy and trade security.

The Emirati official further noted that following the recent conflict involving Iran, the United States has assumed an "even more central and pivotal" role in the strategic calculations of every Gulf nation. Commenting on potential diplomatic resolutions, Gargash stated that the likelihood of a US-Iran agreement to keep the strait open stands at a precarious fifty-fifty. He criticized Tehran's historical approach, pointing out that Iranian officials have long squandered diplomatic opportunities due to a tendency to overestimate their own capabilities, expressing hope that they would not repeat the same mistake this time.
