India Weighs Additional Diesel Supply to Bangladesh Amid Energy Crisis

India is considering Bangladesh's request for additional diesel supplies as the country continues to face an energy crisis, India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during the ministry's weekly media briefing on Friday.

Jaiswal said that the existing diesel supply arrangement between India and Bangladesh remains in force.

"We have an ongoing agreement with Bangladesh for diesel supplies, and that arrangement continues," he said.

Responding to questions from journalists, Jaiswal confirmed that India's request for additional diesel exports is under consideration. However, he noted that any decision would depend on India's domestic diesel availability and refining capacity.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal also addressed questions regarding a possible visit to India by Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He said India has invited the Bangladeshi Prime Minister for a bilateral visit, as well as to attend a special session of the BRICS Summit.

"We have invited the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for a bilateral visit. We have also extended an invitation to visit India to participate in the special session of the BRICS Summit. We will inform you if there is any further progress on the matter," Jaiswal said.
