India has reinforced its sovereign stance by officially incorporating 28 strategic locations and geographical features of Ladakh into the Survey of India map.
The updated documentation covers crucial border points near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including Gogra and Hot Springs. Following objections from the Chinese Foreign Ministry claiming the region as its own and labeling the initiative illegal, New Delhi issued a stern response, reasserting that Ladakh remains an integral and inalienable part of India regardless of external claims.
The administrative mapping initiative aims to standardize geographical names and enhance public awareness regarding sensitive frontier areas. The newly standard names encompass key strategic and historical landmarks, such as Kanishka Peak, Zorawar Peak, Chapchingal Pass, and Alisha Giri. Despite Beijing's pushback, New Delhi reiterated that administrative clarity and territorial documentation do not alter the established geopolitical reality of the region.
