A large Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held on March 20 at Baitul Mamur Mosque and Community Center in New York City, drawing nearly 10,000 worshippers who offered prayers both inside the mosque and on surrounding streets.

The event was highlighted by the presence of New York City’s first Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who attended as the chief guest. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of unity, tolerance, and social harmony within the Muslim community. He noted that Eid is not only a celebration but also a time to strengthen compassion, shared responsibility, and human values. His presence added special significance to the gathering and inspired enthusiasm among attendees.

The Eid prayer was led by Imam Dalouer Hossain, National President of Muslim Ummah of North America - MUNA. In his sermon, he stressed the practical application of Ramadan’s teachings, the pursuit of piety, and the establishment of justice and morality in society. He also called for stronger unity among the Muslim community.
Arman Chowdhury CPA, National Executive Director of MUNA, highlighted the importance of preserving Islamic values in the diaspora, guiding younger generations in religious education, and expanding community service initiatives. He remarked that such large gatherings reinforce a sense of responsibility and inspire efforts toward the welfare of humanity.
Among other speakers were Deputy Mayor Foster, Assemblyman Eric Delan, and Inspector Diane Hinds, along with other distinguished guests.
The overall coordination of the Eid congregation was managed by a volunteer team of 60–70 members led by Mawlana Mutasim Billah Siraji and Mawlana Abu Saleh Nayeb Ali of MUNA Brooklyn East Chapter.
The program concluded with a special prayer, where organizers expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful event and prayed for the acceptance of everyone’s fasting, prayers, charity, and other acts of worship.
