The United Arab Emirates has announced the probable dates for Eid al-Adha in 2026. According to the country’s astronomical forecast, the holy day of Arafat may fall on May 26, Tuesday, with Eid al-Adha celebrated the following day on May 27.

Due to geographical location and moon sighting practices, Bangladesh typically observes Eid a day after most Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia. If Eid al-Adha is celebrated in the UAE on May 27, it is highly likely that Bangladesh will mark the festival on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Following the UAE’s announcement, countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman are also expected to observe Eid al-Adha on the same date, maintaining regional consistency.

Eid al-Adha, the second major Islamic festival, commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail. According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim was commanded in a dream to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. He prepared to fulfill the command, and at the moment of sacrifice, God provided a ram in place of Ismail.

As a result, every financially capable Muslim is obligated to perform an animal sacrifice, highlighting the spiritual and symbolic importance of Eid al-Adha in Islam.
