Saudi Arabia Confirms Sighting of Dhul Hijjah Moon, Eid-ul-Adha on May 27

The crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, meaning the month of Dhul Hijjah in the 1447 Hijri calendar will begin on Monday, May 18.

According to the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid-ul-Adha is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah. As a result, Saudi Arabia will celebrate the holy festival of Eid-ul-Adha on Wednesday, May 27.

The moon sighting was confirmed on Sunday through the Facebook page of Inside the Haramain.

The page stated that the crescent moon for the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah 1447 Hijri was officially sighted in the Saudi sky on Sunday evening. Therefore, the sacred month will begin from Sunday night, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on May 27.

Meanwhile, Indonesia and Malaysia have also announced the date for Eid-ul-Adha. Both countries are set to celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice on May 27 as well.
