Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has taken strict action against five individuals accused of transporting pilgrims to Mecca without valid Hajj permits. The accused include four expatriates and one Saudi citizen.

According to the ministry, Hajj security forces intercepted seven people attempting to enter Mecca without permits at one of the city’s entry checkpoints. The case was later referred to an administrative committee, which ordered punitive measures against those involved.

Under the ruling, individuals involved in transporting unauthorized pilgrims could face fines of up to 100,000 Saudi riyals and prison sentences. Authorities also said the offenders’ names would be published in local media, with the publication costs to be borne by the violators themselves.

Meanwhile, each of the seven individuals attempting to perform Hajj without permits has been fined up to 20,000 Saudi riyals.

For expatriates, authorities stated that they would be deported after serving their sentences and banned from re-entering Saudi Arabia for the next 10 years.

The ministry also confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated to confiscate the vehicles used in the operation.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has urged all citizens and expatriates to strictly comply with Hajj regulations and instructions.
