The annual ceremonial washing of the Holy Kaaba (Ghusl Al-Kaaba) was carried out on Tuesday in an atmosphere of reverence and spiritual significance at Masjid Al-Haram, following the Fajr prayer.

According to Islamic Information, the ceremony was conducted on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, under the supervision of Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz. As in previous years, the interior of the Kaaba was carefully cleansed and perfumed using traditional methods and specially prepared fragrances.

Preparations
The ceremony began with preparations to protect the Kiswah, the black cloth covering the Kaaba. The lower section of the Kaaba's door curtain was temporarily raised before the washing commenced.

During this stage, officials used:

20 liters of Zamzam water

80 milliliters of premium oud oil

Washing the Interior
The walls, pillars, and floor inside the Kaaba were cleaned with special cloths soaked in Zamzam water and Taif rose water.

The cleansing process included the use of:

1,540 milliliters of rose water

11 liters of premium perfume

3 milliliters of natural musk

Perfuming the Kaaba
In the final stage, the interior of the Kaaba was scented with fine perfumes and incense.

Officials used:

500 milliliters of attar (perfume)

500 grams of premium bakhoor (incense)

The tradition of washing the Holy Kaaba dates back centuries in Islamic history. According to hadith narrations, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered the Kaaba, offered prayers inside, and emphasized the importance of maintaining its cleanliness. In keeping with this Prophetic tradition, Saudi authorities continue to organize the annual washing ceremony at a designated time each year.

For millions of Muslims around the world, the annual Ghusl Al-Kaaba symbolizes the highest respect for Islam's holiest site and reflects the enduring commitment to preserving its purity, dignity, and sanctity.
