Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Md. Shafiqul Alam, has stated that a massive public wave has emerged in favor of the 'Yes' vote in the upcoming general election.

Speaking during a visit to the shrine (Mazar) of Buchai Chan Pagla in Dhamrai on Friday (January 23, 2026), he noted that citizens are eager to cast their votes to ensure the protection of civil rights, establish justice, and prevent the return of autocracy.

Condemning recent attacks on shrines, the Press Secretary emphasized that Bangladesh is a land of saints and a beacon of communal harmony. He described shrines as an integral part of Bengali culture and heritage. "If you do not like a place, you may choose not to visit, but attacking it is a heinous act," he said. Highlighting the importance of the annual Baul music festivals, he urged everyone to uphold the spirit of tolerance and preserve the country's long-standing cultural diversity.
