BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has emphasized that establishing a robust democracy is the only way to rebuild Bangladesh after years of misrule.
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally for the Dhaka-17 constituency in Bhasantek on Friday evening (January 23, 2026), he stated that the country has regressed significantly over the past 15 years and now requires a major transformation.
Rahman asserted that accountability must be ensured at all levels of government, from local unions to the national parliament. He highlighted that when citizens can freely elect their representatives, those leaders become responsible for addressing local grievances. During the rally, he directly interacted with local residents to hear about the specific issues facing the Bhasantek area. Accompanied by Dr. Zubaida Rahman and senior party leaders, the BNP Chairman urged the public to ensure their right to vote to pave the way for a developed and democratic Bangladesh.
