The Chicago chapter of the Muslim Ummah of North America - MUNA hosted a vibrant community event on Saturday, April 11, at the Des Plaines Downtown Mosque. The program featured an educational session followed by a special fundraising dinner for the MUNA Center of Chicago.

The event began with an educational session presided over by Chicago Chapter President Shaigan Azad Chowdhury. The keynote speaker was renowned Islamic scholar Professor Dr. Ruhul Amin, Chairman of Al-Qur’an Dawah Center and National Assistant Executive Director of MUNA. In his address, he emphasized the responsibilities of Muslims in the diaspora to uphold Islamic values while building strong families and communities.

Special guest Nesar Uddin, President of MUNA North Zone, also addressed the gathering. The program was conducted by Sajedul Islam, secretary of the MUNA Chicago Chapter.

Participants noted that the event went beyond formality, offering separate, topic-based discussions tailored for both youth and adults. Key themes included the importance of moral education in addressing contemporary challenges and the role of families in preventing social decline.

Speakers highlighted the need to strengthen spiritual practices despite busy lifestyles and to foster stronger community bonds, which resonated with attendees.

The second part of the event featured a fundraising dinner aimed at expanding the services and outreach of the MUNA Center of Chicago. Attendees participated enthusiastically in support of the initiative.

Former Chicago Chapter Presidents Ramjanul Mawla Milon and Aktar Hossain Bhuiyan also spoke, stressing the importance of unity in serving the community.

A parallel session for youth was held alongside the main program, which was successfully conducted and widely appreciated for promoting Islamic values and cultural awareness among the younger generation.

Organizers expressed hope to continue hosting similar events in the future.
