Voting for Canada’s National Election began on Monday, April 28, with citizens casting their ballots in a dramatically altered political landscape. According to Analytics, many view this election as one of the most critical in recent history.

Tensions heightened after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed imposing tariffs on Canada and even suggested making it the 51st U.S. state. In response, a wave of patriotism surged across Canada, boosting support for Liberal Party leader and current Prime Minister Mark Carney.

However, on the eve of the election, tragedy struck Vancouver when a vehicle was driven into a crowd, killing 11 people and injuring many others. Despite the shock, experts believe the incident will not significantly deter voter turnout.

Polling data suggests a tight race. An Ipsos survey shows the Liberal Party leading with 42% support, while the Conservative Party trails slightly at 38%.

The results indicate that the Liberals could secure a fourth consecutive term in office. However, Prime Minister Carney may fall short of winning a majority in the House of Commons, potentially requiring support from smaller parties to form a stable government.
