NEWS DESKA medical transport plane crashed near a northern Arizona airport, claiming the lives of four people.
he Navajo Police Department reports that a small, dual-propeller plane crashed around 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday near the Chinle Municipal Airport. All four people on board died.
According to police, the aircraft was registered to CSI Aviation, a medical flight service based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The plane was reportedly en route to pick up a patient from a local hospital when it crashed and caught fire.
The names of the victims have not been released, but police say none were from Arizona. It’s unclear what led to the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
Access to the Chinle Municipal Airport remained closed while investigators were on scene.
