Former President Donald Trump has announced another controversial decision, declaring on Saturday that he would send troops to Portland, Oregon, to combat what he calls ‘domestic terrorists.’ He directed the Department of Defense to take immediate action.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I have instructed the Department of Defense to send troops to protect the war-torn Portland.” He warned that if necessary, he would authorize the use of “full force” to restore order.

Trump claimed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices were under attack by Antifa and other "domestic terrorists." He said this military action was aimed at securing these offices from further assaults.

The move follows the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which Trump linked to political violence, blaming "radical left-wingers" for the country’s unrest. Trump has increasingly accused these groups of being responsible for the nation's instability and violence.

Earlier in September, Trump had described living in Portland as "like hell" and hinted that federal troops might be deployed there if necessary. He had also threatened to send military forces to Chicago and Baltimore to tackle crime.

This year, Trump had previously deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles during the summer and assumed direct control over law enforcement in Washington, D.C. Recently, the Governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee, announced that the National Guard would also be sent to Memphis, with additional troops and resources to tackle rising crime.
