A medical helicopter crashed on a highway in California, leaving three crew members, including the pilot, seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 7:00 PM on Sunday on Highway 50, specifically on Route 59, in Sacramento. Captain Justin Silvia of the Sacramento Fire Service reported that the crashed helicopter belonged to the American medical transport company, Reach. At the time of the accident, there was a pilot, a flight nurse, and a paramedic onboard, but no patients were present.

Captain Silvia stated that all three crew members were seriously injured. However, despite the helicopter crashing onto the road, no vehicles or pedestrians were harmed.

Eyewitnesses reported that locals immediately rushed to assist in the rescue efforts. They were able to pull two of the injured crew members from the wreckage, while fire service personnel rescued the third and transported them to the hospital. All three were reported to be in critical condition.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the incident.

In a statement, Reach authorities confirmed that they are fully cooperating with the FAA and NTSB in the investigation.
