An American report has claimed that Pakistan achieved significant military success in the 4-day war between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack in May 2025.
In this report, the Pahalgam attack is considered a 'rebel attack' rather than a terrorist attack. This 800-page report has been released by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC).
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raised question in protest against this report and asked, "Will the Prime Minister and the Ministry of External Affairs register their objection and protest against this? Our diplomacy has suffered another major setback."
The report states that Pakistan claimed to have shot down at least six Indian fighter jets, including Rafale jets. This damaged the Rafale's image. The report states that only three Indian aircraft were actually shot down.
The USCC states that China used the India-Pakistan war to test its modern weapons in live combat and showcase them to the world.
After the conflict, Chinese embassies around the world praised their weapons and stated that Pakistan had used them to shoot down Indian fighter jets.
Five months after the India-Pakistan conflict, China signed a deal to sell 42 J-10C fighter jets to Indonesia for ₹75,000 crore.
According to the report, Pakistan used weapons received from China in this conflict and showcased its military advantages to the world. It states that Pakistan used China's HQ-9 air defense system, PL-15 missiles, and J-10 fighter jets.
India claims that Pakistan also received secret intelligence from China during this period. Pakistan denied it, and China did not clarify anything on the matter. According to the report, 82% of Pakistan's weapons between 20192023 came from China.
Chinese newspaper Global Times has questioned the USCC report. The newspaper writes that the USCC has once again portrayed China's progress in the economic, technological, and security sectors as if it were a threat to the world.
The current attitude shows that this report has been written with political motives and does not analyze reality with complete impartiality. Deep misunderstandings and arrogance regarding China exist within the commission. The newspaper further writes that America needs to understand China better.
The newspaper states that accusing or misrepresenting the development of China's arms industry is like denying any sovereign country's fundamental right to enhance its defense capabilities.
It is further written that it is not China but the United States that uses the supply chain as a weapon. The US has tried to create a front against China by imposing restrictions on chip technology, banning military equipment, blacklisting companies, and pressuring its allies.
In contrast, China's reaction is only in response to US sanctions, not to harm the world. China's rare-earth policy is also designed to stabilize the supply chain, not to stop exports.
Ultimately, this report shows that the US is having difficulty understanding the changing world. Repeating the same things every year, ignoring facts, and holding onto political bias have all weakened the report's reputation worldwide.
