U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that he prevented five out of eight potential wars simply by threatening to impose tariffs. He further asserted that the United States is earning “trillions and trillions of dollars” from tariffs on foreign countries—revenue he says has strengthened the U.S. economy.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I stopped five wars directly by threatening tariffs.” He added, “We are taking in trillions of dollars from tariffs and investments from other countries. Out of eight wars, I stopped five directly by threatening tariffs—if they didn’t want to stop fighting or if they were planning to start.”
Trump also took aim at his predecessor Joe Biden, claiming that the U.S. currently has “almost no inflation,” contrasting it with what he described as historically high inflation under “Sleepy Joe Biden.”
He wrote that the stock market has hit “all-time highs 48 times in just nine months,” crediting his own policies for the surge.
Trump also criticized conservative donors and foreign governments, saying:
“Leonard Leo, the Kochs, and the countries that have used tariffs for years to hurt the United States will no longer be able to destroy our nation.”
Trump’s remarks reflect his continued emphasis on tariffs as a central tool of U.S. foreign and economic policy, as well as his ongoing strategy of contrasting his record with that of the Biden administration.
