The US Embassy in Dhaka has stated that individuals are not permitted to work while staying in the United States on a visitor visa.
In a message issued on Saturday, the embassy clarified the conditions of the B1/B2 visitor visa. The statement noted that while certain business-related activities are allowed under a visitor visa—such as negotiating contracts, holding business discussions, and attending conferences—employment is strictly prohibited.
The embassy emphasized that receiving remuneration in the United States or working for a US-based employer is not allowed under the B1/B2 visa category.
The message serves as a reminder to visa holders to comply with US immigration laws while visiting the country.
