The United States has ordered Yemeni refugees and asylum seekers to leave the country within 60 days following the termination of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday, nearly 1,400 Yemenis under TPS must depart U.S. soil within the specified period. Those who fail to comply face arrest and deportation.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated that returning to Yemen is now considered safe. She also claimed that the TPS program, which allows foreigners in dangerous situations such as war or natural disasters to remain temporarily in the U.S., has become contrary to American interests.

The announcement has raised concerns among refugee advocates and human rights organizations, who argue that many Yemenis still face significant dangers if forced to return to their homeland.
