US President Donald Trump has broken the record for the longest State of the Union address, surpassing the previous mark set by former President Bill Clinton.

Trump delivered his speech for nearly 1 hour and 50 minutes, beginning around 10:40 pm. The duration exceeded Clinton’s longest State of the Union address, delivered on January 27, 2000, which lasted 1 hour, 28 minutes and 49 seconds.

The address was delivered মঙ্গলবার in the House Chamber of the United States Capitol.

Prior to the speech, Trump had indicated it would be lengthy, saying, “It’s going to be a long speech because we have a lot to say.”

During the address, he highlighted what he described as his administration’s economic achievements and claimed that he had ushered in a “golden age” amid ongoing global turbulence.

Touching on the current military tensions between the United States and Iran, Trump said he preferred resolving the issue through diplomacy.

In a controversial remark, Trump referred to Somali Americans in Minnesota as “pirates.” He also blamed uncontrolled immigration for rising crime and increasing economic pressures on Americans.

The State of the Union is the US president’s annual address to Congress and the nation, outlining the country’s condition, reviewing the past year’s accomplishments and setting out priorities for the year ahead.
