High-stakes discussions between the United States and Iran concluded in Geneva without a formal agreement, although mediator Oman pointed toward "significant progress." The talks, aimed at addressing Tehran’s nuclear program and averting potential military strikes, spanned several hours across morning and afternoon sessions.
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, who met with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, stated that both sides have found common ground on certain key issues. Taking to social media platform X, Albusaidi noted that while a final resolution remains elusive, technical-level talks are scheduled to resume in Vienna next week.
Reports suggest that the Omani diplomat is also set to meet US Vice President JD Vance in Washington this Friday to further the dialogue. Experts view these negotiations as a critical last-ditch effort to prevent a wider regional conflict before President Donald Trump decides on potential military action against Iran.
