President Donald Trump has issued a scathing critique of NATO, claiming the military alliance has offered "absolutely no assistance" to the United States in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

In a post on his Truth Social platform this Thursday (March 26), President Trump labeled Iran a "mad-dog state" and asserted that while the U.S. does not need NATO's help, the lack of support during this critical time will not be forgotten.

The friction follows a refusal by European allies to join a U.S.-led mission to secure the strategic Strait of Hormuz. European leaders argue that the conflict was initiated unilaterally by the Trump administration without prior consultation, leading to a surge in global oil prices. Since the war began on February 28, reports indicate over 1,340 fatalities in Iran. With 20% of the world's oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the diplomatic rift between Washington and its traditional Western allies poses a significant threat to global economic and maritime security.
