The United States may soon withdraw from its ongoing military operation in Iran, Vice President J. D. Vance has indicated, while suggesting that operations will continue for a short period to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities.

Speaking on a podcast hosted by right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, Vance said the US has already achieved most of its military objectives.

However, he noted that President Donald Trump wants to continue the operation for a bit longer to prevent similar conflicts in the future.

“The president will continue the operation for a few more days so that we do not have to return to do this again for a long time after we leave,” Vance said. “Our goal is to render the Iranian government ineffective for an extended period.”

Vance acknowledged that the conflict has led to a rise in global oil prices but described the impact as temporary.

“This is a very short-term reaction. It is essentially the result of a short-term conflict,” he said.

He added that the United States does not intend to remain in Iran for an extended period.

“We do not want to stay in Iran for one or two years. We will complete the necessary tasks and withdraw soon, and energy prices will return to normal,” he said.
