A high-stakes diplomatic effort to bridge the divide between the United States and Iran has concluded in the Pakistani capital without reaching a formal consensus. Despite nearly a day of intense negotiations, significant gaps remain between the two nations on core strategic issues.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday morning following the "Islamabad Talks," JD Vance acknowledged the complexity of the discussions. "We have engaged in 21 hours of rigorous dialogue covering several critical areas. While the communication itself is a positive step, the reality is that we have yet to secure an agreement," Vance stated, confirming that the delegation would be returning without a signed deal.

Vance emphasized that the delegation approached the table with "good faith" and flexibility. However, he noted that the inability to find common ground was "unfortunate." He characterized their final position as a "clear and best offer," leaving the next move to the Iranian leadership.

According to reports from BBC and Al Jazeera, the discussions focused heavily on nuclear non-proliferation. Vance identified the red lines clearly, stating that the primary objective remains a verifiable commitment from Iran to forgo the development or acquisition of nuclear weapons.

"The fundamental question is whether there is a genuine long-term commitment to peace," Vance added. He also extended his gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for their hospitality and proactive role in facilitating the dialogue, clarifying that the lack of a breakthrough was due to policy differences, not a failure of the host nation.
