Amid escalating tensions with Iran and warnings of a prolonged naval blockade, President Donald Trump has shared a controversial modified map on his social media platform, Truth Social.
The map labels the world-renowned Strait of Hormuz as the ‘Strait of Trump.’ Posted without any caption, the image reinforces a term the President previously introduced during a speech in late March, where he dismissed any notions of it being a mistake, asserting his characteristic confidence in his decision-making.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical maritime artery, facilitating nearly one-fifth of the world’s total oil transport. Reports from Axios indicate that President Trump recently rejected a fresh proposal from Iran aimed at ending the two-month-old regional conflict. The President reiterated that no peace agreement will be reached, nor will the naval blockade be lifted, until Tehran agrees to abandon its nuclear program and address Washington’s security concerns. As the diplomatic deadlock continues, sources suggest that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has prepared plans for a ‘short and powerful’ tactical response to pressure Iran back to the negotiating table.
