U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the temporary suspension of “Project Freedom,” the American military operation aimed at controlling maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, citing progress in ongoing negotiations with Iran. However, he stressed that the U.S. naval blockade in the region would remain fully in place.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the decision was made following requests from several countries, including Pakistan, and due to what he described as “significant progress” toward a comprehensive and final agreement with Iran.

Trump claimed that the United States had achieved major military successes during operations against Iran. He added that the temporary pause in “Project Freedom” was intended to determine whether conditions were now favorable for finalizing and signing a possible agreement.

Despite the suspension, Trump emphasized that the naval blockade would continue unchanged and warned that military operations could resume immediately if necessary.

The latest development comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region following months of conflict between Washington and Tehran.

On February 28, the United States and Israel jointly launched strikes targeting Iran’s missile systems, air defense networks and various military installations.

Later, on April 8, Iran and the United States agreed to a conditional two-week ceasefire through Pakistani mediation. On April 21, Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire period to allow more time for negotiations aimed at reaching a long-term settlement.
