On the occasion of his 80th birthday, United States President Donald Trump held separate, high-profile telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Both leaders extended their birthday wishes to the President during the calls on Sunday, which focused heavily on bilateral relations, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and major developments in international diplomacy.

According to Kremlin details, the conversation between President Trump and Vladimir Putin lasted nearly an hour. During the dialogue, Trump reiterated his calls for a swift end to the conflict in Ukraine, expressing readiness to cooperate with European allies and Ukraine to achieve a settlement. In response, Putin noted that if Ukrainian President Zelensky wishes to hold a direct meeting, he would need to travel to Moscow—a condition Zelensky has consistently rejected. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed that diplomatic momentum will be maintained as special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are scheduled to visit Russia again soon.

Subsequently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke with Trump for over 30 minutes. Zelensky shared on social media that they had a substantive and detailed discussion regarding battlefield realities and paths toward securing a lasting peace. Both leaders agreed to delve deeper into these matters during their upcoming meeting at the Group of Seven (G7) summit scheduled in France later this week.

Furthermore, Trump informed Putin that a highly anticipated agreement to end hostilities between the administration in Washington and Iran had successfully been finalized. While the White House has yet to release an official readout of these conversations, the successive calls underscore a pivotal moment in global foreign policy and conflict resolution.
